Romeo Santos- Bilingual/Bicultural Crossover Artist to Discuss Tapping Into US Hispanic Audience
AHAA and Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más present an enlightening conversation with Romeo Santos, former member of the multiplatinum bachata super group Aventura, at the 2011 AHAA annual conference. Balancing dual languages and cultures, Romeo continues to effectively amplify his voice and brand within multicultural audiences, breaking records and topping Anglo and Latin charts across the country. Now in his solo career, Romeo will discuss the American Latino millennial universe and share his journey to success from a personal and professional perspective. Moderated by Jose Tillan, GM & EVP of Tr3s, the exclusive session will take place on October 12th at the Eden Rock in Miami Beach, Florida during the AHAA conference.
Now, with the November 8th release of his highly-anticipated solo debut album “Formula Vol. 1”, Romeo Santos is fusing a strong base of bachata with further elements of Urban, Pop and Latin music to create a representative new sound that taps into multicultural audiences. The new album offers a diverse range of collaborators including Lil Wayne, Usher, Mario Domm of Camila, La Mala Rodriguez and Pitbull. The advance singles from “Formula Vol. 1” have already seen Romeo Santos resume his presence at the top of the Billboard Charts for seven straight weeks at #1 on the “Hot Latin Songs” chart.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Romeo Santos has spearheaded the explosive chart revival of bachata, creating a definitive modern style that has become Latin music’s most successful and distinctively New York sound since the celebrated days of the Fania All-Stars. Having won both Billboard and ASCAP Songwriter of the Year honors as the featured composer and lead singer of chart-topping superstars Aventura, Romeo became the leading musical voice of young U.S. Hispanics-fronting the top-selling Latin album of 2009 & 2010.
In 2006, Romeo took an ASCAP award in tropical music for his megahit song “Obsesión” and another yet in the American market in Pop – the first time a Hispanic writer has won an ASCAP award in the American market. In 2007, Romeo took the Billboard Composer of the Year Award over such legendary writers as Marco Antonio Solis and Joan Sebastian. Romeo has penned hits for artists such as Wisin & Yandel, Thalia, El Torito and Anthony “El Mayimbe” Santos.
