MSU is seeking an experienced, self-starting professional to lead a strategic, results-oriented team responsible for planning and executing exceptionally creative university-level communications that elevate the university’s reputation and advance its brand image. With the Vice President for Communications and Brand Strategy, the position plays a lead role in the continued evolution of the MSU brand.
This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating an annual research-based, university-level brand image marketing plan and for managing and/or establishing relationships with agencies used by Michigan State for large university-level communications projects. The Assistant Vice President also is responsible for actively consulting with university leaders and units to help them achieve marketing and communications goals while remaining brand aligned.
The position is a key liaison to the university’s other external affairs units, coordinating and assisting with integrated brand messaging for external audiences. Reporting to the Vice President for Communications and Brand Strategy, the Assistant Vice President for Marketing Communications supervises a growing staff of 17 marketing communications professionals, including the photo and video area, which produces content for the Big Ten Network.
